What Are Cookies
A cookie is a small amount of data that, in the form of a unique code, is sent to the user's browser by a web server and then stored on the hard drive of their computer, smartphone, and/or tablet. Cookies can be used to enable the proper use of an Internet site (so-called technical cookies) or to check the user's preferences while browsing the web to offer them advertising messages aligned with these preferences (so-called profiling cookies). The cookies stored on the device may have a variable duration: they disappear when the browser is closed or have a longer but still limited duration. Cookies can be installed by the owner of the website being visited (so-called first-party cookies) or by other third parties (so-called third-party cookies).

Social Media Cookies
These cookies are set by a range of social media services and allow users to share our content with friends and networks. They can monitor user navigation on other sites and build a profile of user interests, which may impact the content and messages displayed on other websites visited. They are used for both advertising and analytical purposes — for example, to display our ads when users are logged into social networks (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and to help us understand user interactions and engagement with our ads on those networks.
These cookies also make the web more interactive by allowing users to engage with social networks whose content is integrated into the Site. They can process data such as the number of contents shared through social networks, or whether the user has an active account on those networks, through third-party applications integrated into our Site. It is likely that the social network enabling such integrations uses specific buttons to identify the user, even without any direct interaction: this may allow the social network to track the user's browsing on our Site simply because their account is active on their device while browsing our pages. We advise users to consult the policies of these social networks to understand the purposes of use and the information collected, and to manage their preferences through their account settings.

Legal Basis for Cookie Use
The legal basis for using different profiling cookies lies in the user's consent given as per the indications present in the related banner on the Site. The lack of consent does not affect the use of the Site (except for not being able to receive more targeted offers). For technical cookies, consent is not necessary, as the processing is based on the user's pre-contractual and contractual request to use the site and services offered, in order to provide optimal navigation and usability of the Site.
How Consent Is Collected
Upon first access to any page of the Site, a banner is displayed containing a short notice with a link to this Cookie Policy, an "Accept all" button to consent to the installation of all cookies other than technical ones, and a "Manage cookies" button that allows the user, through a specific tool, to accept (or later deny) consent to all or — also separately, by moving the relevant sliders — to the different functionalities, third parties, and categories of non-technical cookies. It is not possible to disable technical cookies, as they are necessary for the operation of the Site.
To the right of the banner, there is also a command marked with a cross: selecting it closes the banner and allows navigation to continue according to the default settings, without installing any cookies other than technical ones. Closing the banner by clicking this cross, scrolling the page, or clicking anywhere on the Site outside the banner does not constitute consent to the use of cookies other than technical ones.
The banner will not be presented again to the user unless at least 6 months have passed since the previous presentation, except where (i) the processing conditions have changed, or (ii) the technical cookies that record cookie choices have been deleted from the device. We remind users that, according to applicable data protection legislation, cookies necessary for the functioning of the Site are not subject to consent and therefore cannot be disabled in our choice management tool. Users may object through their browser settings (see below), though the navigation experience on the Site may be less smooth as a result.
How the User Can Manage Cookies
If the user does not want cookies to be stored or read on their device, a cookie recording that refusal will be stored on their device, allowing us to remember their choice. If this technical cookie is also deleted, we will no longer be able to recognize that the user has refused the use of cookies, meaning preferences will need to be set again on the next visit. The user has the following options to manage cookies, including blocking and/or deleting them:
"Manage Cookies" Tool
The user can, at any time, express, modify, or revoke their consent regarding cookies by accessing the "Manage cookies" tool via the link present in the footer of the Site.
Browser Settings
The user can also object to the registration of cookies on their hard drive by configuring their browser to disable cookies. Here are the procedures offered by the main browsers:
- Chrome > support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
- Edge > support.microsoft.com
- Firefox > support.mozilla.org
- Safari > support.apple.com/kb/HT1677
After this operation, some web page functions may not execute correctly.
Specific Modules and Platforms for Disabling Cookies
For more information about cookies and to manage preferences regarding third-party profiling cookies, users can visit www.youronlinechoices.com, a site run by digital advertising professionals within the European Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA). In the "Your choices" area, users can view the list of third-party companies that install cookies, check the presence and activity status of the installed cookie, and selectively manage consent. By expanding the "Info" entry for each company, users can access more information and reach the specific privacy and cookie policy via link.
Scope of Data Knowledge and Disclosure
Data acquired through cookies may be processed by employees and collaborators who are authorized and trained to handle it, including:
- the Data Controller;
- providers of IT, technical, organizational, and digital marketing services, acting as data processors; and
- third parties issuing non-technical cookies to whom the user has given consent.
The data will not be disseminated in any way.
User Rights
At any time, users can request and obtain access to their data, correction, and updating, as well as request deletion, anonymization, portability, and restriction of processing. Users can also object, at any time, to the processing of their personal data and revoke previously given consent.
To exercise these rights, besides using the cookie management tools described above, users can send a written communication to the Data Controller's address provided above, or write an email to compliance@eptarefrigeration.com.
Users also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant Data Protection Authority regarding the processing of their personal data. A list of EU Data Protection Authorities is available at the following link: European Data Protection Board – Members.
Modifications
We may modify this Policy from time to time. We will inform users and/or request their consent whenever necessary or required. In case of substantial changes, the new Cookie Policy will be brought to the user's attention upon their first access to the Site after the modification date. We recommend reviewing this Policy on each visit to check the latest version.
